Keanu Reeves and Carrie Anne-Moss are officially returning for "Matrix 4"
Lana Wachowski, who co-created "The Matrix" along with her sister Lilly Wachowski, will write and direct the film, Warner Bros. Introduced Tuesday. Aleksandar Hemon and David Mitchell will co-write.
"We could not be extra excited to be re-entering 'The Matrix' with Lana," Warner Bros. Picture group chairman Toby Emmerich informed range, who first said the news. "Lana is a real visionary — a novel and original creative filmmaker — and we're pleased that she is writing, directing and generating this new chapter in 'The Matrix' universe."
Wachowski stated the concept of "The Matrix" is more applicable than ever before.
"many of the thoughts Lilly and i explored twenty years ago approximately our truth are even more applicable now," Wachowski said. "i am very satisfied to have these characters again in my life and grateful for some other threat to paintings with my brilliant buddies."
the primary "Matrix" film hit theaters in 1999, resulting in a trilogy that cumulatively grossed more than $1.6 billion at the worldwide container office.
No plot details had been introduced for the approaching film, and a release date has not yet been confirmed.
